All Courses - General


Enrolment

Acceptance onto an online or in-person learning course is at the sole discretion of the Course Director. If payment has been received and the application is subsequently declined a full refund of fees paid shall be provided.


Pricing

Course fees for all learning programs and courses are collected in Japanese Yen.


Validity period

INTESOL ACeD's 120-hour TESOL course is valid for one (1) year, and other courses/programs are six (6) months from the date the enrolment application has been completed by Asian Center for Development. However, if more time is required, the provision for an extension is up to the discretion of the Course Director.


Transfer from in-person learning courses to online courses

Once enrolment on a course is completed by paying the course fees in full, first instalment or deposit and/or the course materials have been dispatched, the course fees are non-transferable from in-person learning to online courses or vice versa.


Payment transfers

Course payments cannot be transferred from one student to another.


Non-native trainees

Non-native English trainees must have a good command of both written and spoken English. An IELTS score of at least 5.5 or its CEFR equivalent of B2 level is generally required. If no assessment tests has been taken yet, assistance is given to facilitate the necessary requirement. 


Refunds and cancellations

Course materials may be returned (courier fees to be borne by the student) within 8 days of the date the full course fees or first instalment was received by Asian Center for Development, provided no assignments have been submitted for assessment. Students can expect a refund without stating a reason provided the materials are returned in good condition so those can be resold. The refund is usually issued within 8 days of the return and will be paid by bank transfer.

No refunds can be given after 8 days of the course payment for any reason, except in the circumstance when it is deemed necessary to advise a trainee of his or her unsuitability to continue, possibly due to work of an unacceptably low standard. In this case the trainee must have submitted at least the first 3 modules for assessment.


Discounts

All applicable discounts must be claimed at the time of application and must be clearly stated on the application form. Evidence of eligibility for discount must be provided within 14 days of application and will only be deducted from the course fees when this evidence has been received by Asian Center for Development.


Suitable evidence

Student (must be full time)- Photocopy of student card showing attendance in the current academic year OR student number with name of University. Registered unemployed – Photocopy of recent letter from authorities confirming you are registered unemployed. i.e. Letter regarding Jobseekers Allowance. Multiple applicants – The name(s) of the friend(s) with whom you are enrolling must accompany the application form. The multiple discount will be deducted from each applicant when all multiple applicants have enrolled.


Your Trainer/Coach 

Your class/program will be assigned a trainer/coach for the duration of the course. Your trainer/coach can be contacted by email. Asian Center for Development trainers are practicing teachers and teacher trainers, and are generally unavailable during the day.


Dispatch of course materials

Course materials will be made available within 48 working hours of receipt of your first instalment or full course fees. 


Applicable Law and jurisdiction

These terms and conditions shall be governed by, construed and enforced in accordance with the laws of Japan. Any and all disputes arising here from or in connection herewith shall be exclusively submitted to and finally resolved by Japanese competent courts.
